Eating a salad is an easy way to get lots of vegetables into your body—what better way to celebrate National Salad Month than trying a new delicious salad each day. Vegetables are the most important building block when it comes to alkalizing our bodies.

A good salad can be ruined when eaten with an unhealthy salad dressing filled with sugar, unhealthy fats, lots of salt and artificial flavorings.

Here is a healthy salad dressing which you can use for most salads:

Olive Oil Lemon Juice Salad Dressing

This is a base salad dressing recipe which you can fancy up with herbs.

Ingredients:
1 cup Olive oil
1/3 cup Lemon juice
2 -4 drops Stevia
1/4 tsp Braggs
Optional: Dried herbs of your choice and garlic.

Directions:

  1. Blend all above ingredients in a Blender.
  2. Taste and add more of any of the ingredients to your taste.

This carrot salad with black currants and sunflower seeds is especially unique—and filling too.

Ingredients:
3 carrots, grated
1/4 cup black currants
Few sprigs of cilantro, chopped
1/4 cup sunflower seeds, roasted
1/4 cup sesame seed, roasted
Olive Oil Salad Dressing

Directions:

  1. Put grated carrots into a wide salad bowl.
  2. Toss with Olive Oil Salad Dressing to taste.
  3. Sprinkle, currants, cilantro, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds.
  4. Serve and enjoy.

Broccoli Rice Salad

This is a very filling salad that can easily be your whole meal.

Ingredients:
1 cup Broccoli, chopped into small pieces*
1/4 cup Green bell peppers, chopped
1/4 cup Red peppers, chopped
Few Leaves of Romaine Lettuce, chopped
1 cup cooked brown rice
Lemon/Olive Oil Dressing (above)

Directions:

1. Mix ingredients together in a medium bowl
2. Pour the desired amount of Lemon/Olive Oil dressing
* If you do not like raw broccoli, lightly steam it before adding it to the salad.

Delicious Green Salad

This is a green salad with a difference, the orange and sunflower seed make it very tasty and nutritious.

Ingredients:
1/2 head romaine lettuce, chopped
2 handfuls baby spinach
1 orange, peeled and sliced
1 small cucumber, chopped
1/2 cup toasted sunflower seeds
Olive Oil Lemon Juice Salad Dressing

Directions:

  1. Mix lettuce, spinach, orange and cucumber in a salad bowl.
  2. Toss with salad dressing to taste.
  3. Sprinkle sunflower seeds.
  4. Serve and enjoy.

Ingredients:
1 handful of sprouts
1 handful, arugula
1/2 head, green leafy lettuce, chopped
3 – 4 figs, sliced
Few raspberries (optional)
Few slices of radicchio (optional)

Directions:

  1. Mix greens together in a bowl.
  2. Top with raspberries, radicchio and figs.
  3. Serve with Raspberry salad dressing.

2 cups mixed greens
Handful of red grapes, cut in slices
