Drinking water is an essential part of keeping a healthy body and surviving. In fact, your body is made up of 60% water. Your brain and heart is made up of 73% of that 69%. Your lungs contain 64% while your kidneys and muscles have 79%. Your bones make up the remaining 31%.

So, what does water do to help your body?

  • Regulates body temperature (sweating and respiration)
  • Forms saliva to help with digestion
  • The brain needs water to create neurotransmitters and hormones
  • Allows your body’s cells to grow, reproduce and survive
  • Lubricates your joints
  • Flushes out waste
  • Acts as a shock absorber for your brain and spinal cord
  • Helps convert food into components that are needed for survival
  • Helps deliver oxygen throughout your body

And we know that drinking just plain water all of the time gets old pretty fast. If you’re tired of boring, plain water, here are a few things that you can add to your water that will not only spice it up, but also help you detox your body!

Oranges

Oranges help to not only flush out toxins from your body, but also help boost your immune system. This recipe would be great during the winter months to avoid catching that dreaded cold.

Cucumber

Lemon And Lime

These are my favorite to add to my water. Both lemon and lime flush out toxins while aiding in digestion. They also help give your immune system a well needed boost. The best thing about adding lemon and lime to your water: they rejuvenate your skin!

Mint

Talk about refreshing! Adding mint to your water helps boost your digestion. It also helps to ease stomach aches as well as fight against depression!
