Viewers weren’t the only ones shocked by those final words.
When Gilmore Girls got a reboot on Netflix last year, it was eagerly received by fans. But the ending of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was an immense cliff hanger that shocked everyone, including the show’s lead, Lauren Graham.
Graham, who plays Lorelai Gilmore in both series, told actress, Constance Zimmer in a Variety interview that she didn’t find out about those shocking words until the last minute.
“I didn’t know until like three days before we were shooting them. Amy Palladino’s face, she was like ‘I never told you?'” Graham says. “I was like, no I didn’t even know it was a thing. I really didn’t know.”
The final words belonging to Rory saying, “I’m pregnant,” left many fans hopeful that this isn’t the last they’ll see of the Gilmore family. Graham agrees that the ending leaves the door ajar.
“I don’t read anything, and like, you know and so I didn’t know,” she says, “And it definitely leaves the door open.”
